FS Football Varsity Football

Overview: Despite last year’s record (0-6), this year’s varsity football team has a bright outlook because of their new home field which gives them more space to practice, and a more experienced group, consisting of juniors and seniors. First year head coach, Mark Huynh plans to redeem last year’s team record by winning at least one game this season. Galileo started off rusty with 1 lost in their preseason against Northgate high (18-28). However, they beat Moreau Catholic (28-25), and lost again against Berean Christian (9-17). Galileo has picked up their game and transitioned it to their regular season beating 3 teams, including our rival Lowell Cardinals. Smashing Balboa (32, 15) Marshall (48, 6) and Lowell (21, 0). Although Lowell beat Washington Eagles, and we lost to Washington by 10, (34, 44) we are tied for first with Washington and Lowell.

Frosh/Soph Football

Overview: Last year’s F/S football season didn’t live up to their expectations because 2 years ago they won the round robin championship, but last year they came in 6th. However, this year, first time head coach, Don Harris believes the team has a lot of potential to succeed because they are coming together as a team. coach Harris says,’’ Football is the ultimate team sport and the only way to be successful is coming together.’’ However, the season is not looking bright for the frosh/soph team, they have 0 wins so far, and playoff doesn’t look close.

Varsity Volleyball

Overview: A new head coach hasn’t affected the girls varsity volleyball team’s momentum to bring their A game on the court. Although losing 3 starters last season, the team’s spirit is still high, as new head coach, Sarah Carters says, ‘’I still believe we can be number one.’’ The varsity team has a record of 6-3 facing Lowell on 11/3/09 for fourth place and a playoff spot; they will have to hope that Washington will beat their upcoming game against Wallenberg and win their game against Lowell to have a spot in the playoffs.
